Teaching with the Enemy (#11.6)

Warning: Spoilers
Rebecca catches Lilith cheating on Frasier. So Lilith has to tell it to him before Rebecca starts talking. When she brings it up he is extremely upset. They talk and then she goes to tell Pascal she won't see him again while Frasier gets drunk at Cheers. When she comes back he tells her that he forgives her, but she says she is in love with the other guy and will leave Frasier.

I was curious how they will go on with Frasier. Considering that he is the spin off and divorce there I wondered if the divorce will happen on Cheers. It looks like this will be the case. I am sad to see them separating as they were my favorites on the show but they really are going in a good way about it the episode today had some humor, but mainly feelings.

Tiny was quiet a character! Felt bad for him as well.

Lilith Goes Wild
Hitchcoc11 September 2019
This is a more serious episode than most. Rebecca confronts Lilith after discovering her going hot and heavy with a co-worker in a steamed up car. Rebecca is about to explode as she sits on the knowledge, waiting for Lilith to fess-up. This episode is to be continued.

The decline of the Frasier character
trey-yancy-572-7635478 December 2021
From this episode forward many fans felt that the Frasier character had been greatly degraded. While the quality of writing for the character remained good, the story line of the failed marriage was a big disappointment for a great many viewers.

When the Frasier series appeared the following year fans received the character well because it provided a level of happiness that was stripped away by the Lilith situation. In the eyes of this particular viewer, the failed marriage story line made for a terrible attempt at jumping the shark. It did not add interest, it just created sadness.

Warning: Spoilers
I personally could not enjoy this episode because of the cheating in it. I just don't like watching that so I couldn't get on board for this one.

The height of selfishness
Steve_Holt_24 March 2023
Easily the worst episode of cheers. Lilith, not only selfishly terminates the marriage between her and Fraser, but in doing so portrays herself as a sort of martyr, as though leaving Frasier and their child is serving a greater cause. She utilizes every patronizing platitude she can come up with in order to justify her self indulgence, and the show presents it as though the audience is supposed to sympathize with her.

I do agree that Fraser could have done things better in the relationship, it's true of every marriage, but for years she has been a negative, insulting drag on his life, and apparently, when she can't find enjoyment in that anymore, she runs after the nearest spark.

I don't think this episode served any purpose in the series, and consequently devalued Frasier, which was unfortunate for such a great character. It did possibly serve a purpose for his spinoff series, where he gets to be the sympathetic protagonist, and Lilith is properly regarded as the self-righteous, coldhearted shrew that she confirmed herself to be in this episode.
