Someone is trying to kill Judge Dana Andrews and Andrews has hired the Checkmate team to protect him and prevent that sort of thing from happening. An attempt is made on him during the program with a most unusual weapon.

Andrews doubles as a law professor and he says in his class that he will be taking up a most controversial death penalty case that he presided over and the only case where he issued the death penalty. A lot of people have grievances over that case.

This is a strange and directionless episode. After watching it twice I'm still not sure what the whole point was other than to give Dana Andrews doubts.
