The cat's out of the bag !

Warning: Spoilers
Finally ! There were two little things that bugged me this last season : 1) where did the Halliwells' cat go ? 2) Why hadn't anyone tried to learn a bit more about it, especially in a house filled with witches that supposedly know their own myths ? While I feel that Kit the cat ought to have been involved in more episodes, especially as it features in ALL the beginning credits, this one settles the question once and for all.

Apart from that, this is an average episode. All the parts involving Paige and Phoebe revisiting the past are rather nicely done, although the quality of the picture is clearly inferior in earlier seasons. Anyway, it is really cool to see everybody looking so young and behaving slightly differently. Besides, the editing manages to leave Prue out of every shot without being too obvious about it. It is too bad they couldn't get Paige to really see, maybe even meet Prue. On the other hand, the pretext leading to Paige and Phoebe's little trip down memory lane feels very contrived. Piper and Leo may have had a few spats, but nothing ever suggested that their couple was on the verge of imploding. As for their session with the shrink, it is a bare shell of a pretext, since the poor guy barely says three sentences while they alternatively reminisce and freeze him. It is even less interesting since it never gets any proper resolution. So the basic idea for this episode was good and had potential, but its realization spoils it.

Witches in time

Warning: Spoilers
Paige is curious about her sisters lives before she met them and gets a chance to see it when Leo & Piper go to see a marriage councilor casting to spell to relieve old memories. Cat house finally covers where kit went to along with what she is and that's a familiar granted the gift to become a human for doing her duty in guiding the charmed ones. While I like the concept behind the episode, the flashbacks feel like a bad attempt at a clip show without showing any new clips or giving the audience to see Prue. I'm glad Paige got to see some of the highlights from past seasons like Piper's wedding or when Leo proposed, but nothing is learned and gained from them other then to set off the main story of a warlock who kills Kitt. I don't see how killing one familiar has bad consequences as her house was chalked full of other familiars and thus makes the whole shenanigan seem in vain.

Anther issue is before this Leo & Piper had the perfect marriage with only problems arising here to serve the plot instead of real drama and is resolved by the end without really digging into why it sprang up to begin with. It really seems to play for laughs as they use other words to cover up magical incidents making it seem it was meant to be silly and yet the finale scene of the model bride and groom gone missing implicates they wanted us to take it seriously. If more thought had been put into it to show their problem or skip the marriage counseling story altogether it would be a perfect episode instead of clunky melodrama.

Too cheesy

Warning: Spoilers
Bad things first. I first was really frustrated with the ending. Paige and Phoebe go through history and they step on Piper and Leo's cake topper. They change history signaling that something was changed. However this idea is never really explored. Though there are unexplained endings such as flowers growing or someone mysteriously writing in the book, Piper and Phoebe suggest that history has been changed. Paige never got to see what Prue looked like in person.

Good thing is that I thought the story matched up with what was going on well. For example, Paige wanted to see what the sisters were like before she arrived and she got to see it.

In poor taste

You really did Shannen dirty by not including her in the episode. We never got a meeting between her and Paige. If the producers and the ones higher up just put their pride aside we would have had the most anticipated and exciting meeting the show needed. We were robbed.
