Classic stuff!
Long before "Three's Company," "Car 54" was definitely the king of the "misunderstanding"-plotted sitcoms. Main writer Nat Hiken is a genius, and this episode is just one of many examples through the series run.
Officer Toody of all people is in charge of the precinct's treasury, and decides to invest the full pot into the stock market. However, a series of hilarious - you guessed it - misunderstandings make the safest stock into the most risky stock, and Toody takes the blame.
It all comes down to a satisfying climax of course, but only after plenty of hilarity. If there's one negative in this episode, it's that there is no Captain Block (played so great by Paul Reed, although the Captain is mentioned). This is also the first episode with Al Lewis as officer Leo Schnauser (he previously played a different role for a few earlier episodes).
"Car 54, Where Are You?" is such a great show with so many fine episodes, and "Put It in the Bank" is definitely worth a viewing.

Extremely hilarious episode!
This is awesome, what an episode! Gunther Toody is hilariously inept and endearingly neurotic, and this snowballs into all sorts of foolishness. The rest of the cast does a fine job of delivering a great performance in a memorable episode ! Not to be missed.

Best one yet!!!!!
This is by far the funniest episode yet! I laughed from the beginning to end! What great writing. With all of this carona virus business going on it was nice to have a good laugh. If you haven't seen this one you are in for a treat! Why this show was only on 2 seasons is beyond me, these are great characters with a young Herman Munster and grandpa Munster too.
