- Horatio's attempt to protect the young witness of a drive-by boat shooting at a party may put Yelina's life at risk when the suspect finds out about the boy.
- Dennis de Labeque is a highly successful party planner, who wants to celebrate the launching of a new business venture. He organizes his own party at his seaside mansion. Speed boats approach the mansion during the party, and there are shots fired from one of them in drive-by-shooting style. The only victim of the attack is the young mother Jennifer Valdez. Her son Stevie briefly noticed his mother's killer, though he can not provide a detailed description. Dennis believes that the shooter was his former business associate Byron Middlebrook, who has become his worst enemy. The CSI team finds evidence against Byron, and a trial is quickly arranged. Byron has had legal training, and acts as his own defense attorney. He uses his position to intimidate and manipulate the forensic team working in this case. But there are indications that Byron has a plan to eliminate every witness in this legal case, including Stevie. The team has to find a way to prevent additional murders, while investigating Byron's other crimes.—Dimos I
