- An armored track transports money from a bank when it stopped by two attackers. Both one of the tracks' guards and one of the robbers are killed during the initial encounter. The other robber escapes with millions in cash, but he is soon arrested. The retrieved money is determined to be counterfeit. The CSI team believes that the guards had conspired to switch the real money with the counterfeit prior to the unrelated robbery. The surviving guard claims that someone kidnapped his beloved sister Mary Donlan, and that he was blackmailed to assist a heist plan in exchange for her life. The CSI team finds clues that Mary may have staged her own kidnapping, and that she is the mastermind behind the heist. Meanwhile, Horatio has a nasty surprise in his personal life. His widowed sister-in-law (and love interest) Yelina had discovered the existence of Horatio's niece Madison.
