- Examining the bloody murder of a Miami father and his wife, which the teenage daughter survived, Horatio's team soon finds trails to a car rented by a man who flew in from New York City. There Horatio teams up with his CSI counterpart Mac Taylor, who is examining a cop-killing, possibly by the same murderer. Together they follow him, work out what erroneously drove him to Miami and arrive at an analogous crime scene, where rich Michael Hanover and his wife were killed, badly stabbed adolescent son Mike Jr. The matter of key access suggests some involvement of the janitor.—KGF Vissers

Horatio promises to the traumatized girl that he will personally track down the killer in order to keep her safe. The CSI team finds evidence that the killer was from New York City, and that the killer used the identity of Nick Murdoch. Horatio travels to New York City in search of Murdoch. In New York, Mac Taylor investigates the murder of the real Nick Murdoch. Murdoch was an undercover cop, and his identity was stolen by his killer. Taylor and his team then are alerted to the murder of the murder of the wealthy businessman Michael Hanover, Sr. and his wife in a home invasion mirroring the murders in Miami. Hanover's son is found injured in his own bed, though he is able to recover in a local hospital. Horatio and Mac suspect that the elusive killer was a hit-man. They have to locate him, but they also have to find out who hired him.—Dimos I
