A fuel man lights up on fire during a race and burns to death despite wearing a fire-proof suit.

Formula One star Jimmy Hutton's pit crewman, Chris Petrie, dies in an invisible fire started by methanol on his gloves. The water hose was sabotaged and the race car tampered. The team must work out the possible suspects' motives, from owner Hayley Wilson, to crew mates and rivals such as Ernest Mansfield.—KGF Vissers

During a Formula 1 race in Miami, the engine of Jimmy Hutton's car malfunctions. Jimmy himself leaves the car and flees Miami for unknown reasons. The car seems to have been sabotaged. At about the same time, rookie crewman Chris Petrie is burned to death within his own uniform. Someone had dosed Petrie's gloves in flammable methanol. The CSI team learns that the racing team involved in both incidents is under contract negotiations with a new sponsor, and that there is infighting in their ranks. The team's owner Hayley Wilson flirts with Horatio during the investigation, in an attempt to influence his decision making. Meanwhile, one of the suspects in the case is smitten with Calleigh and goes out of his way to help her.—Dimos I
