Continuity

While Getraer is recounting the robberies, he says the motorcycles got away from an LASO and then an LAPD car in two different robberies. In each flashback, the same LAPD car was shown.
Even though after the robbery alert they had exited the freeway and gotten back on going in the opposite direction, the same brown Datsun from when they received the alert is shown behind Ponch as they are trying to pull over the two motorcycles.
Jon's gloves change from tan to black to tan before and after he hits the gate.
After receiving the robbery alert, the roadway changes from a rural freeway to an urban one.
Jon and Ponch are talking to two sheriff's deputies when the 211 call comes in. All are shown as responding. Leaving the parking lot, Jon and Ponch go one way and the deputies are not seen again even though they were parked next to each other. Additionally, since there as already a CHP car pursuing the motorcycles, this would have been reported over the CHP radio before an alert went out.

Factual errors

There are no stop signs at freeway entrance ramps. The purpose of the ramp is to gain speed to safely merge with traffic, which would be defeated if vehicles were required to stop at the end of the ramp.
Engelhart is shown having photographed Ponch on the Crawford stop from behind, yet the photos seen in court were taken from a side view. Additionally, Jon and Ponch were never in the positions shown, the photo appears to have been staged.
With his right middle finger splinted, Jon would not be able to operate the throttle and front brake of a motorcycle, yet he is shown in motorcycle gear at briefing, giving the appearance he rode his motorcycle to it.
The first defendant in traffic court, Mr. Wee, uses an abacus to determine Officer Brouillette had to have been going 175 MPH to stop him .76 miles from where he observed the violation while parked at LaBrea after clocking him for a half-mile. On the chalkboard behind him is his name and a diagram that lists the cross-street as Fairfax. Since Fairfax and La Brea do not intersect with each other, and Fairfax does not intersect any freeway (it crosses under I-10), he was clocked on a side road. In a residential area, the speed limit would have been far lower than the freeway and it would have been possible for a motorcycle officer to observe a lower-speed violation, overtake, clock, and stop a vehicle within .76 mile.

Revealing mistakes

In the second robbery, the same footage is used from the first one. The robbers pass the same shopper by the same "Hats R Fun" sign. Also they are shown driving out of the same shopping center (Raintree plaza) as the first robbery.
When showing the motorcycle thieves taking the pedestrian overpass to escape the police car, you can see gasoline being sprayed out of the gas tank. When the car screeches to a stop and the car slides you see gasoline spraying out as if someone forgot to put the gas cap back on.
When the MGB backs out into the path of the robbers as they flee the second robbery, black marks on the pavement reveal prior takes.
When the lady rams her friends car in the back in order to push start it, there is no dent after the hit, however, when they go back to view the damage there's a large dent on the side nowhere near the point of impact.

Errors in geography

After the first robbery, the CHP dispatcher calls Ventura Freeway units and advises the 211 suspects from 1300 White Oak were southbound on the Hollywood freeway at Vermont (Avenue). The Ventura Freeway is northwest of that interchange, so the robbers would be going away from it, not towards it. White Oak Avenue intersects the Ventura Freeway, however, it is 16 miles from Hollywood and Vermont Ave. The dispatcher should have said Ventura Freeway and White Oak, which is an actual interchange.
While riding westbound on the Ventura Freeway, Jon and Ponch get the alert for the robbery that had taken place on White Oak near the Ventura Freeway- although the alert erroneously said the Hollywood Freeway. After exiting the freeway and turning around, a few minutes later, Jon calls in the suspects were eastbound on the Ventura Freeway at Reseda. Reseda is only 9/10 of a mile west of White Oak, and going east would place the robbers going towards the scene of the crime, not away from it.

Character error

At the beginning Jon is surprised to discover the two motorcycle drivers he stopped are women when they take off their helmets. Assuming he didn't notice their figures from the shape of their tight jeans, he should have realized they were women when he frisked them.
Broderick Crawford says he was making those Highway Patrol shows long before Jon and Ponch were born. He starred in Highway Patrol (1955) from 1955 to 1959. Since Jon and Ponch are supposed to be about the same ages as the actors playing them (born in 1947 and 1949 respectively), both would have been small children when the show was made and originally aired.
The LAPD patrol officer uses incorrect designators when calling in the pursuit. He says 3 Adam 42 and 1 X 45 in pursuit of 211 suspects, indicating two cars are in pursuit. He is a single patrol officer, so his designator could not have been "Adam", which was reserved for two-man cars. Additionally, there was no other car with him. The designator "X" means extra marked patrol unit, which would have been correct for what he was shown doing. Finally, the first numbers called (3 and 1) are the LAPD geographic division identifiers. Cars from Division 1 would not be working with cars from Division 3 until such time as a pursuit left one division and entered another.
Getraer is redundant when he gives out an 11-79 "with injuries" at briefing. CHP code 11-79 means accident with ambulance rolling, so the call would have injuries. Additionally, unlike other actual locations used in the show, the location given, westbound Santa Barbara off ramp to Chester Street does not exist. After Jon and Ponch arrive, a sign in the background indicates they are adjacent to I-210 or the Foothill Freeway, which was a popular filming location.
At start of the traffic court, Ponch addresses Judge Linda Lindheim as "yes sir, your honor".
