When Ponch and Jon are at roll call near the end of the episode, their helmets are on the tabletop in front of them, yet when they go out to their motorcycles, their helmets are resting on the handlebars of their motorcycles.

When Getraer arrives at the diner where Ponch and Jon are eating, he is wearing his motorcycle helmet even though he's driving a CHP cruiser. It was recommended by the department on rainy days for officers to wear their helmet (Motor or riot) because they would stay dry.
