The camera's lens' visor on top creeps into the picture intermittently and wobbles top of frame when Carey and the Crucero, Texas police chief Evans do their downtown walk-and-talk, at 25:50 - 27:42. Filmed in Chino, Calif. during heavy, winter rain (early March 1976), the 35mm camera's flat, metal shield was slightly adjusted to prevent rain from hitting the lens and direct, natural light from causing the distortion of flares. The wet weather necessitated Evans to use an umbrella throughout the two-minute scene.
Camera dolly tracks along Santa Monica Beach leading to beneath the city's iconic pier become visible in the background (22:55 - 22::58) between Carey and Lundeen as the men talk and walk towards the camera that is smoothly being pulled along by grips on said tracks.
