Greg's in lust
aqueckboerner13 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is definitely a rated G version of what was really going on in that rated R head of Greg's. He's a teen boy going through puberty who laid around lusting about his teacher. It's sad that his father had an opportunity to help Greg get a grip on his lust so that he wasn't just laying around all day fixated on it.

Also you can tell it's the 60's with the comment that Mr. Brady made to Greg's teacher about her appearance and why Greg obviously wasn't paying attention to his homework. That would never be accepted or appropriate today.

Greg's In Love

Greg fails a math test and Mike and Carol find out he is in love with a girl named Linda.

A very good Greg episode and one of Season 1's best. We later find out Linda is his math teacher. She is played by Gigi Perreau, she appeared in Abbott and Costello's last movie "Dance With Me Henry" (1956). One of the funniest scenes is when Greg tries to get advice from Marcia about what girls look for in boys. She says girls like rugged types like Steve McQueen, innocent ones like Dustin Hoffman and men of the world like Dean Martin (Greg tries to seem like all three and the funniest bit is when he tries to seem like Dino). Another interesting guest is Los Angeles Dodger Wes Parker as himself. It turns out he is the teacher's boyfriend. I was also amused by Carol mistaking a new girl named Linda as Greg's crush. She just moved from Seattle, and she pronounces it See-AT-tul which I thought was pretty funny.

GREG VERSUS MCQUEEN, HOFFMAN AND DINO?
tcchelsey11 February 2024
No question, the title of this funny episode is a take-off on the GRADUATE, starring Dustin Hoffman. That said, the story was probably inspired by LEAVE IT TO BEAVER.

It's one of those teacher crush sagas, centering around Greg who is not doing well in math class because he's stuck on his pretty teacher, Miss O'Hara, played by popular actress Gigi Perreau.

He doesn't seem to be getting through to her, so he asks Marcia for some urgent advice, who says (with a straight face) you have to be a little like Steve McQueen, Dustin Hoffman and Dean Martin???

Absolutely amazing.

What straightens Greg out is the appearance of Dodger first base superstar Wes Parker, who plays Miss O"Hara's boyfriend. It's a good bit, and obviously a plug for the Dodgers. Parker was a star player on the team for many years, including the 1965 and 66 World Series, later a baseball announcer for NBC.

Without giving too much away, Greg does survive and next its Marcia's turn... Stay tuned!

Barry Williams again shows what a great actor he is, and thanks to him, makes this one of the classic episodes of the first season.

A Valentines Day fave, written by David P. Harmon, who wrote many episodes for GILLIGANS ISLAND.

Parker was a confirmed bachelor at the time, he never got married until the 1990s and then only for a few years. I was also amused by Carol mistaking a new girl named Linda as Greg's crush. She just moved from Seattle, and she pronounces it See-AT-tul which I thought was pretty funny.
