Bob is watching a football game on television between the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions, that takes place at Tiger Stadium in Detroit, also the home of the Detroit Tigers. The Lions played at Tiger Stadium from 1941 until 1974, the year this episode originally aired.
An open-reel Video Recorder like the one that Miles gifts to Bob would have cost at a minimum about $1,000 in 1974. That would be over $6,000 in 2023 dollars.
The Video Recorder "gift" is a 1972 Panasonic NV-3082 EIAJ video recorder.
In this show, Henry Winkler appeared as parolee Miles Lascoe, who is just out of prison. Winkler also starred as Arthur "the Fonz" Fonzarelli in Happy Days. When this show aired in January of 1974, Happy Days was 2 shows into its first season. For the first few seasons, the Fonz was a recurring character who said very little and wore a bluish white canvas jacket. As Winkler's character became more popular, he talked more, switched to a leather jacket, and had the catch phrase, "ayyyy."
