Vic Cleland has been needling Quinn Jackson (James Franciscus.) Both men are employees of Nora's freight line and she is off to Sante Fe withe them.
After a while a fight breaks out between Vic and Quinn and Marshall Scott is on hand to stop them.
Later a rattlesnake approaches Vic as he is sleeping. Quinn attempts to shoot the snake but Vic gets in the way. He is dead.
Marshall Scott is not sure that Quinn meant to shoot the snake. He tells Quinn that he is under suspicion. Clay Culhane becomes Quinn's attorney. He tells Clay that Vic found out that as a youth he had robbed a store and plan to tell all to Nora.
Clay discovers that another suspect is afraid of snakes and a torn newspaper article sheds more light on Quinn.
The youthful James Franciscus comes across as both innocent and ambitious. Advising Nora to expand her fright line. A good performance by him.
