Ronald D. Moore told in the podcast commentary for "Downloaded" that they had started to develop an episode called "The Raid", where the humans infiltrated into a Cylon space station where a conference about how to solve the human problem was taking place. The Colonials had to get more information about the Earth. Caprica Six, who started having visions about Gaius Baltar, discovered them but finally let them go. This idea was dropped, but Ron Moore wanted to show the Cylon point of view and it was finally shown in "Downloaded". The return of Caprica Six, who died in the miniseries, and she having visions about Gaius was also kept from "The Raid".
For the first time in the show, D'anna refers to the Number 6 copy who infiltrated into Caprica to disable the Colonies' defenses as "Caprica Six".
D'anna (the character who is played by Lucy Lawless) reveals her model is Number 3, Sharon's is Number 8, and Doral's is Number 5.
"Downloaded" features the Cylon point of view of the show and shows an established society in the planet of Caprica. However, the staff didn't want to reveal yet the identity of the remaining Cylon models, so they decided to focus just on three characters: D'anna Biers (Lucy Lawless), Sharon Valerii (Grace Park) and Caprica Six (Tricia Helfer). The presence of Aarol Doral (Matthew Bennett) is very limited, and despite seeing what presumably are some copies of Simon, the actor who usually plays him, Rick Worthy, didn't actually appear in the episode and they used a double actor instead.
The cars in the basement are all European classic models. Among them is a Citroën DS. This was done to create a slightly less familiar look of Caprica toward US viewers (but will look more familiar to European viewers).
