Bruce Lee was Burt Ward's neighbor and buddy. Burt Ward was a black belt when he did the part. Bruce Lee and Burt Ward knew each other because they lived in the same condominium building. They used to spar together.
Instead of the usual "Special Guest Villain", Van Williams as the Green Hornet and Bruce Lee as Kato are billed as "Visiting Hero" and "Assistant Visiting Hero", respectively.
Billy May, composer on all episodes of "The Green Hornet", would go on to score the final season of "Batman".
DC Comics presented a follow up story as part of their Batman '66 series. In the story, Batman, Robin, Green Hornet and Kato re-teamed and faced the combined forces of The Joker and the real named General Gumm. The comic story also featured appearances by supporting characters from the Green Hornet TV series.
