Barney's broken foot
kevinolzak17 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
"The Kid" finds Capt. Miller with a cast on his foot, an accident that Wojo is very curious about (Yemana: "maybe he tried to bite his toenails!"). Fish foils a 14 year old pickpocket with a mother (Angelina Estrada) whose husband has since departed ("I think I saw him over on 14th St. one day, but I am not sure!"). The woman is clearly attracted to Fish, who experiences a crisis of feelings long suppressed, especially after confessing to Barney how much he enjoyed drinking wine in her apartment- Fish: "after all this time to have desires!" Barney: "listen, Nature's strange!" Fish: "I know, I've spent my whole life proving it!" Nick advises Fish to use for an aphrodisiac ground up reindeer antlers: "why do you suppose Santa Claus always walks around with that smile on his face?" A deaf man (Arny Freeman, 6 episodes) is arrested for trying to steal a hearing aid, calmly pointing his toy pistol while the deafening alarm bell sounds. Barney believes Nick can help with the batteries, 'made in Japan' (Yemana: "yeah but I wasn't!"). Charles Murphy returns as Eugene Woolen, last seen in "Fear of Flying," who has patiently waited 30 days to see if his $3500 has been claimed (guess who has enough to buy a hearing aid?). Barney finally confesses how he broke his foot falling in the toilet, which Wojo insists is not possible ("it's possible, changing a light bulb and you think the lid is down!"). Harris is absent in this episode.

Best scene ever on television.

The hearing aid scene with Mr. Newell is one of the funniest scenes ever shown on television. Great writing and great acting. I've watched it over and over and still laugh until I cry.
