"Noninvolvement" poses a problem for Wojo, who sees a purse snatcher getting away and yells at bystander Al Mitchell (Mike Kellin) to "grab him!" Mitchell does nothing, the thief makes his escape, and Wojo brings in Mitchell, wanting to charge him with 'noninvolvement.' Capt. Miller ascertains that since Wojo failed to identify himself as a police officer, he had no right to arrest Mitchell for anything; unfortunately, slimy defense attorney Arnold Ripner (Alex Henteloff, first seen in "Experience," next seen in "Blizzard"), has by now infiltrated the squad room, convinced his client has a successful case against the entire police force. A new officer, Det. Maria Battista (June Gable, one further appearance in "Smog Alert"), brings in a flasher who accosted her on the way to the bakery. His attorney turns out to be Lyle W. Farber (Ron Feinberg), the same flasher who attempted suicide in the mens room in "Snow Job," confessing that he was a lawyer. Fish is worried about where his pension money is going, while Nick offers coffee to the mugging victim (Lucille Meredith, last of two), who comments that it tastes like pencils (Yemana: "that's not the coffee, that's the cup!").
