"Bones" marked the fifth and final episode directed by Maxwell Gail, following "Wojo's Problem," "The Accusation," "The Counterfeiter," and "Computer Crime," all from the 4th and 5th seasons. Howard Platt (last of five) plays a burly scoutmaster who foils a robbery attempt by a pint-sized mugger (Panchito Gomez). There's no water at the 12th Precinct, and the maintenance man (Luis Avalos, second of two) requires first Levitt then Wojo to help him break down a wall in the basement. Inside that wall is an old rifle dating back 100 years, as confirmed by archaeologist Otto Travis (Ivor Francis, last of four), present to press charges against a Native American Mohawk (Mark Banks) protesting the desecration of his ancestors' graves by stealing a collection of bone specimens from the museum. Dr. Travis is not above making jokes about his profession: "I certainly hope he hasn't damaged them...they're worth an arm and a leg!" That rifle becomes a valuable piece of evidence...
