I rate this 9 Stars for the appearance of Jeff Conaway, in a role he is so good at. He is the whole show here and then some, playing a handsome surfer dude named Taylor, who has some deep psychological problems. Interestingly, this episode --to a degree-- focuses on the likes of a serial killer, which was rare material in the 70s. That you have to give it credit. HAWAII FIVE O, in the late 60s, was perhaps the first cop show to seriously deal with that theme, folowed by MANNIX and CANNON. How far we have come.
Over the top, yes, but that's Jeff Conaway, and surprisingly, just a few years before his comedy days on TAXI. He was a terrific young actor. Also in the cast is award winning actress Joanna Miles, playing Taylor's equally strange sister. Miles, a few years earlier, gained fame for appearing in the tv version of the GLASS MENAGERIE (1973), opposite Katherine Hepburn. Watch for it in reruns.
Also to note, Cassie Yates has a small part as a victim. Yates would play some dynamic bad girls on the series. She was originally a hair dresser who came to Hollywood and became a popular tv actress. We loved her.
Well directed by Kenneth Gilbert, who had some fun with this one, heading 12 episodes for the show, alternating with Walter Grauman.
Filmed --of course --at beautiful Malibu, which producer Quinn Martin seemed to love.
SEASON 4 EPISODE 22 remastered CBS dvd box set.
