A satisfying addition to the closing of Babylon 5's narrative

This episode was, like the finale episode, very sad. Watching the inner anguish Lennier faced was deeply saddening, and watching him do what he did to Sheridan was heartbreaking. I could feel his pain, the pain he experienced for betraying the Anla'shok, as it was foretold in "Day of the Dead" by a vision of Mr. Morden. While I felt that this choice for Lennier's character was a kind of bad one, as, throughout the entire show, he was portrayed as honorable to a tremendous extent, and this decision of his is a complete upending of that preconception, but I can see where he is coming from.

A great episode and a sad departure for some characters.

Outstanding episode of an outstanding series

The other reviewer of this episode is clearly not someone who followed the series, nor did he understand what was happening.

Objects at Rest is the culmination and end of a 5 year journey. Friends are going separate ways. It brings to a close the story of one adventure as a group, and the new adventures that await each individual as they go forth in life.

Sheridan's recording to his son at the end of the episode is a lesson that if many people learned it would solve a lot of their individual problems as well as general life issues. It makes the point that change in life is always going to happen, is something to be embraced, and things you have lost are to be cherished for what they were.

To call this episode maudlin is to not understand what the series was about. It was a goodbye for fans who invested many hours watching this series.

A rather slow and maudlin episode

While this isn't a terrible episode, it really does go at a snail's pace and is pretty depressing to watch. I really think that too often many television series would be better off just ending instead of lingering and milking it for a few last drops. While much of the episode actually annoyed me because of this, I did really like the way it all began with Garibaldi having his first scheduled meeting of his new board of directors--this was a hoot. Unfortunately, after that it just drug on and on as everyone said their goodbyes--plus some of the best characters had already left in the previous episode. The only exciting part was with Lennier. In an event that seemed totally out of left field, Lennier betrays the Rangers and his allegiance. The how and why you'll have to see for yourself, but it DID fulfill the ghost of Morden's prophecy (Season 5, episode 8 "Day of the Dead").

Overall, a competent and interesting episode that just drug on too long with the sentimentality. If you hate all this depressing stuff, then be sure NOT to watch the next (and final) episode.
