Goofs

Last One for Hutch

Black Sheep Squadron

Edit

Factual errors

The pilots are seen taking off with open canopies which they close while cruising at altitude. Canopies were closed before takeoff not in the air.

Revealing mistakes

At about 12 minutes, when the 2nd plane is landing, modern vehicles can be seen parked to the left of the runway.
While on the ground preparing for the bombing mission at least one of the Corsairs has both dark and lighter blue painted on the side and the USA star logo is outlined in red. However, when the planes are in the air this plane is nowhere to be seen. Appears that all aerial footage was stock footage that was reused in many episodes.

Plot holes

Micklin tells Greg that Hutch was dead before he hit the ground, but Hutch was killed in a manhole immediately after he dove in, so he was already on the ground.
During the first strafing run, a Marine runs right through the line of bullets, falls to the ground, rolls, and gets up unharmed. The line of bullets can be seen passing right through him as shown by the puffs of dirt along the ground. He would be dead or badly injured.
