How come i have a sudden urge to drop anvils on people?
The_Light_Triton22 September 2013
This episode of animaniacs really stands out amongst the rest. Not only does it parody one of the most famous kids icons of all time, It lays a smackdown on him in ways that most of us elementary school kids wished we could back in the 90's. Nowadays, it's cool for kids to hate people like Justin Bieber and One Direction. But back in the 90's, you were cool if you hated Barney.

In this adventure, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot are tricked into going to the Baloney & Kids set to be a part of Baloney's show. After doing very childish and stupid things that don't appeal to them, Baloney gets the Warners to make masks. While Baloney makes a mask of himself, The warners create masks of people no one will get, including Gustav Anvil, Which gives Yakko an idea which put this animaniacs episode in our hearts forever.

Barney vs. Animaniacs!
bonniejoy-978-6876316 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
All I have to say about this episode is the Animaniacs vs. Barney the Dinosaur. The idea of it is ridiculously hilarious, and this episode takes full advantage of it.

I'm guessing the Animaniacs were put into detention with a Barney knock-off, and desperately do everything to kill him off from playing astronauts to singing about anvils while they're getting dropped on him.

This episode plays out like a regular Barney episode, but works out brilliantly when sticking the animaniacs in the scene. The fact that Baloney is so innocently stupid is up against the animaniacs is hilarious. Baloney plays out like any kid's show that is intelligence insulting, like singing dumb overly cheerful song, guessing the obvious three times, giggly, hugging, being all fun and games, using babyish adjectives, and being completely oblivious to reality. The animaniacs in the meantime act like teens that outgrew the show, and got stuck in it. They're the intelligence of the show, and spice up the show with their songs, constant gags, and efforts of trying to destroy Baloney.

The songs: most of them are just like Barney, like the intro song and goodbye song. It is funny to hear these knock-off songs, especially since the Animaniacs show knew how the Barney songs almost never had any clever writing or melody to begin with. The melody of Baloney's songs are exactly like the show, and that makes it perfect. The best song has got to be the Anvil Song, where Yacko, Wacko, and Dot sing about anvils while they're being dropped on Baloney without destroying him, and he of course is oblivious to the pain.

Over all a great episode. If you hate or still miraculously love Barney, I think you're going to enjoy how much this episode points out the flaws in the show in the first place. It's a fun episode and worth a yum yum doodle dumb viewing!

The Warners and the dinosaur
TheLittleSongbird9 August 2018
Love animation to bits. It was a big part of my life as a child, especially Disney, Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera and Tom and Jerry (with tastes broadening further getting older with Pixar, Studio Ghibli and some of the more mature animations out there), and still love it to this day as a young adult whether it's film, television or cartoons. Actually appreciate it even more now, with more knowledge of the different animation styles, directors, studios and what work went into them.

'Animaniacs' has always been one of my favourites. From an early age, it always stood out as one of the most colourful, unique, funniest and cleverest shows, animated and otherwise, ever made. It is not to be dismissed as a show just for children. There is plenty for children to enjoy, any child who loves great animation, humour to laugh at and unique characters will be in heaven. There is more than plenty for adults too, especially the hugely clever in-jokes/poking fun that is likely to be better understood by older viewers with more familiarity for what is being referenced and poked fun at.

Another one of my favourite episodes definitely, very clever, very funny and very amiable. A must for mainly "Baloney & Kids"

In all the segments throughout, the animation is very well done, with vibrant colouring, crisp beautiful backgrounds and convincing movements for the characters. The music is not only catchy it is actually memorable as well, with an instantly hummable main theme.

The script and humour are witty and hilarious with clever references and inside jokes throughout. As are the situations no matter how silly they are the characters get into. This all springs from a great concept, some shows have a great concept but don't live up to it.

'Animaniacs' was always one of the finest examples of execution of a great concept doing that and superbly, with the story lines here being funny and endearing. While all the three segments work very nicely, "Baloney & Kids" is so hilarious and clever with such witty parodying it stands out by default. The characters are immensely likable with unique personalities, with no exception. Baloney is a fun foil for the Warners.

Can never fault the voice acting and Rob Paulsen and Jeff Bennett especially are terrific.

Summing up, brilliant. 10/10 Bethany Cox
