In a rare move, Barney is carrying all six bullets in his gun.
Allan Melvin, who plays Malloy, appears in eight different episodes as eight different characters in the series.
In this episode, Barney tells Inspector Horton that Andy's address is 24 Elm Street. In "Aunt Bee's Medicine Man," Aunt Bee tells Colonel Harvey their address is 332 Maple Road. In "Barney's Sidecar," Opie starts to woodburn their address into the front porch and starts with a "3." In "A New Doctor In Town," Andy tells Doctor Thomas Petersen his address is 14 Maple.
At the beginning of the episode, when Barney is trying to impress Inspector Horton and get his attention, he attempts to do so by leaning on a bookcase and posing similarly to his photo in the framed newspaper story about breaking the Walker's Drug Store robbery. What's interesting about this moment is that the bookcase Barney is leaning against is always located on the side wall next to Otis's cell and not the back wall where the framed newspaper and bulletin board are located. It would seem that the bookcase was specifically moved to that spot just for that scene since the bookcase is always in its usual location against the side wall in every other episode of the series.
