The hot dog vendor at the auto show is played by Howard Hesseman who would later gain fame playing morning DJ Dr. Johnny Fever on the sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati (1978). Howard was a founding member of The Committee comedy troupe in San Francisco at the time, appearing here just on the heels of the Summer of Love. He would go on to star in two successful TV series, and over 150 other productions.
Goober tells Andy he went to automobile school with his old friend, Roy Swanson, 15 years ago. Originally, audiences didn't know what Goober did for a living, although his cousin Gomer claims he'd put a car motor on his boat.
When Goober turns around and walks toward the closet with Aunt Bee's suitcase, the black tape holding his jacket together under his arm pit is visible. When he reaches up to place the suitcase on the shelf the tape is visible on both sides of the fake tear.
Patty Regan appears here as a manicurist, just a year after she appeared as one of the two Raleigh Police Department secretaries who have no interest in Barney.
The car that Aunt Bee and Opie look at is a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/4. This car would be worth over $3,000,000 today.
