Allan Melvin makes his first appearance in the series as Sgt. Pulaski, but will soon return in season two as recurring character, Barney Hefner.
When Edith is telling Archie about her dream she mentions Senator Proxmire was in it, only she didn't know who he was. Senator William Proxmire, (1915-2005) was the longest-serving Senator from Wisconsin, and was in office from 1957 to 1989. Proxmire also holds the U.S. Senate record for consecutive roll call votes cast with 10,252 over a twenty-two year span, beating the previous record of 2,941.
