Yasmin Hayek, a young Muslim girl, recently came to All Saints [episode 7.12] with a bad infection as a result of an infibulation (circumcision) and begged Charlotte to perform a simple procedure to reverse the mutilation. Even though the girl was underage for the procedure to be done without parental consent, Charlotte proceeded. Now, Yasmin is back, badly injured, and appears to have been beaten as punishment. Mrs Hayek, the girl's mother, wants to take her daughter home and deal with the situation herself, but it isn't that simple. Charlotte suspects that Yasmin's highly orthodox father is the one who's beaten her and she isn't keen to return the girl to that situation. It's not a decision she eventually has to make because Yasmin turns out to have a ruptured spleen and needs an operation. When Mrs Hayek finds out about her daughter's deinfibulation, she collapses.
