- Alfred Hitchcock is finishing painting the floor of a room and finds that the exit door leads to the closet. He finds a skeleton inside of the last poor soul who ended up stuck there. It falls out on the floor and Hitchcock has to remove and repaint.
A wood plank falls on the head of a young man (Steve Dunne) walking on the sidewalk. He doesn't want to get information of the company whose worker accidentally dropped the board and walks away. He is still groggy a few minutes later and sits on a park bench. A vagrant (Percy Helton) talks him into getting a drink and he takes advantage of his new acquaintance. The vagrant introduces himself, but the young man realizes he does not remember who he is. Alarmed he walks into the men's room to look in the mirror in order to recognize who he is. He splashes water on his face, but he still does not remember. He finds that he has a $1000 bill and an address of a Dr. Ralph Mannick (Hugh Marlowe). He goes to the doctor's office, but the doctor does not recognize who he is. He notices that he has a head wound and treats it. The young man explains what happened to him and that he does not remember who he is. He has no wallet and identification. The doctor tells him to go to the police and that they can post a picture of him in the paper so his wife or family would recognize him. He says that the police doctor can give him a full examination. He thinks he has temporary amnesia, but cannot be certain without a full examination. As the man leaves the office, he waits for the elevator and suddenly his memory returns. He goes back into the doctor's office and tells Dr. Mannick that his memory returned and he remembers very clearly why he is there. He picks up a scalpel and states that the doctor's wife gave him the $1000 bill for him to kill the doctor.
Alfred Hitchcock returns and is finishing painting the floor of another room. He has painted himself into a corner and paints a picture of a door on the wall. The door opens and he leaves.
