- [a gunshot is fired in Malloy's direction]
- Officer Pete Malloy: [running back to Reed in safe cover] Well, that's not gonna work.
- Officer Pete Malloy: What are you doing in the closet?
- Agatha Zephyr: [matter-of-factly] Everybody's got to be someplace!

- Officer Jim Reed: Malloy.
- Officer Pete Malloy: Yeah?
- Officer Jim Reed: [about an apprehended suspect who shot at kids] Things like this, they don't seem to get to you, do they.
- Officer Pete Malloy: Sure they get to me, but I was thinking about those kids. The way I figure it Slade had his chance, if he blew it, that's tough. If he had killed one of those kids, it would have been a lot tougher. Come on, let's go to work.
