When Viriginia Gregg is destroying the car its obvious that the windshield has been painted to look cracked, the car has been damaged ahead of time and she is hitting the already-damaged areas with a plastic bat.
It's when she's breaking the side windows that she's using a real bat, hence the cut to a different angle allowing for the substitution of the plastic bat.

When Dragnet alumni, Viriginia Gregg, is destroying the car, the lighting gives away that it's a movie set: every onlooker has 2 or 3 shadows each on the ground. This betrays the presence of multiple lights placed above them, in opposite directions. (The sun only provides one shadow per person.) Not to mention the strange proximity of the backlot buildings and sidewalks vis-a-vis each other, which is also typical of movie sets but not of real life, Los Angeles streets.

When Reed and Malloy are entering the gym, the sign says, "River's Gym", indicating that the proprietor's name is River when it's actually Rivers. Rivers's sweatshirt is punctuated acceptably as "Rivers' Gym", although "Rivers's Gym" would be more correct. EDIT: Actually both " Rivers' " and "Rivers's" are equally correct according to most style guides.
