The bank robber wearing the blue jacket sustains a gunshot wound somewhere in the upper part of his body, his partner subsequently dragging him back inside the bank. When the two emerge from the bank again, there is no indication that he was shot.
When discussing the situation about the bank robbery, Reed suggests to McDonald that they trade police officers for some of the hostages, to which McDonald replies that the bank robbers refused the idea. It is against police policy and procedure to trade law enforcement officers for civilian hostages.
