Evelyn's hair is red in Rings, while in The Ring Two, it is black both in the present day, and in a brief flashback that is close to the time line of the flashbacks in Rings.

It is assumed the film is set in the Pacific Northwest as per the earlier films and the shot of Deception Pass bridge (also used in The Ring), but the Pacific Northwest does not have cicadas.
Holt didn't respond to his friend's texts because he apparently got a new number, yet his old number is still visible on his phone when Julia finds it in his room. If he changed his number in between the events of Julia finding his dorm and meeting Skye, then that still doesn't explain why he didn't attempt to contact anyone.
By the time the film introduces us to Holt and Julia, Gabriel has already watched the tape and will die in 7 days. However, several events happen in the interval that could obviously not occur in just 7 days, like Holt getting ready for college and Gabriel amassing an underground club dedicated to the cursed tape.
Since this film takes place in the age of the internet, why didn't Skye simply copy the cursed video onto any of her other devices like a tablet or phone and quickly show the video to Julia? Instead she waits until the very last minute to log into her computer and copy the file shortly before she's scheduled to die.
When Faith is repeating back to Kelly what Carter told her in their conversation, she says that he got a phone call that merely said "7 Days", even though that is not what he told her.
Since Skye's 'tail' arrived late, Holt could have easily showed him a copy of the video. There wasn't any need to ask Gabriel for another 'tail'.
