French Courtship
boblipton12 March 2019
Berthe Dagmar works at a laundry, where she is loved by a clerk. However, Lucien Bataille, aka Zigoto also loves her, and beats up his rival, who decides on a terrible revenge on Zigoto, and his little dog, too.

It's a rather silly entry from Jean Durand's unit at Gaumont. Durand would take his company and shoot a comedy or a western movie, depending on.... well, westerns were very popular in France, and the folks at Gaumont saw no reason they could not be produced in France.

This is one of those European slapstick movies in which a rather bizarre comic would engage in violence, and then get dunked in a barrel of what looks like whitewash. It all turns out happily, for some of the characters.
