The morning scene on the bay featuring people fishing on the pier after Jenny's date with "Patrick" was actually an evening shot of the sunset, not the morning. One can tell by the coloring of the sky over the bay, which is in the west. Were it morning, the sun would be rising behind the camera, thus having a dark sky over the bay.
Despite claiming to take place during 4th of July weekend, and the entire summer, the film was actually shot in the Fall. This is evidenced by many of the boardwalk shops in Seaside Heights being closed, and the sheer lack of people on the Boardwalk. This is further evidenced by the amount of sand present on the boardwalk in Lavallete. For safety reasons, the boardwalk is swept daily in Lavallette, and the boardwalk pavilions are not filled with sand during the summer as they are cleaned out in the Spring.
The building used for the exterior shot of the "Lavallette Elementary School" where Jenny teaches her English class is actually of the Lavallette branch of the Ocean County Library located on Jersey Ave. The elementary school is located on Brooklyn Ave, some 6 blocks north of the library.
In the beginning of the movie, they have Jenny driving 'down the shore' south on the Garden State Parkway. They show her passing Exit 90 - Brick, Lakewood etc. There is no Exit 90 on the southbound side - only northbound.
