This short video by artist Palle Torsson, using slow-motion clips from the Pippi Longstocking (1969) TV series and movies, was intended to show how the common gaze had been sexualized since the era they were produced. It immediately became extremely controversial, as it caused much anguish for Astrid Lindgren, the author of the Pippi Longstocking books. Inger Nilsson, who starred in the TV series & movies, was similarly outraged. Ultimately, the Swedish Film Industry (Svensk Filmindustri), which co-produced the 1969 series/movies, took intense legal action to stop the video from circulating, and claimed the short was illegal under copyright law. Torsson tried to pursue the case, but opted not to, considering how expensive it would be to do so. After reaching a settlement, the 6 copies of "Pippi Examples" were destroyed.
