Normally, I would give a straight 10 for anything featuring Richard Harrington or the attractive Haydn Gwynne (especially with the overhead shot as she runs home to see her daughter) and there are some rather attractive nurses in it but the sex and drugs scene with Melinda does seem tame and yet, again, there is no mention as to why a regular character has left (Spike).
I am sure I will get used to the new 2 X 50 minute version but setting this in a hospital and having this story written by Tony McHale seems to give it a soap opera feel and the viewer is given the impression that they are watching an episode of Casualty or Holby City.
The story seemed a bit short to be rating it but I will give this half a solid 8.
