A modern day HUD
davidbfraser21 August 2006
I was at the Premiere of this film and found the storytelling very compelling. Champ (Richard Archer) is a big fish in a small town and his time may have passed him by. Haunted by his alcoholic father (Stephen G. Black in a sad, understated performance that lingers in the mind long afterward), Champ struts about the small town, like a modern day "HUD", while his family, both old and new, fight to take the farm from him, the only home he ever has known. Archer, the actor, is highly watchable and driven in the starring role, and Archer, the screenwriter, never lets him off the hook. Director Jeremy Major has filled out the cast with quality supporting actors who are consistently genuine. This is a drama you are not likely to forget.
