- Tom and Kitty, two black cats are fighting and yowling on the back fence and two Persian kittens sleep on a sofa while Slim Summerville, the hotel bell boy and his pal asleep in their beds. A white mouse comes out of its hole and the kittens jump down after it, driving it back in its hole. Master Puss is not to be outdone, so goes to a drawer and gets a piece of cheese, which he carefully places in front of the hole. Out comes the mouse after the cheese and Puss pounces on him. Just then Slim's dog jumps out from the bed and goes for the mouse and the kittens scatter. The mouse escapes and a bumble bee lights on its tail, stinging it so hard that a great big lump raises and the mouse cannot get back in the hole. The mouse jumps wildly around the room, then crawls in the barrel of a gun, the dog pulls the trigger and the mouse is shot into kingdom come. This wakens Slim and his Pal (or he thinks it does) and they think it is time to get up. Slim takes a nice shower in the bathroom down the hall and advises Pal to do the same. The Landlord's daughter is in the bathroom, preparing for a bath when Pal comes in, so great confusion ensues. The daughter tells her Papa, she has been insulted and he starts out to avenge the insult. Meanwhile Slim misses the hitter and starts out to find it, reaching the bathroom just before the Landlord does. When the Landlord arrives he thinks Slim the guilty man and he chokes him almost to death. While this is going on, in the bathroom the Pal has stumbled into the girl's room and they are having a little talk. They hear Papa coming and the daughter pushes him into a closet. Just then Slim comes in and the daughter pushes him into the bed and slips behind it. Slim cuddles down under the clothes with only his arms held out, and the daughter's head, stuck through the rails of the back of the bed furnishes a head for the body. When Papa comes in he sees his daughter in the bed and the room apparently empty, but something makes him glance into the closet, but he only sees clothes and a bathrobe hanging on the hooks for Pal has caught the collar on the hook and is hiding in the robe with his head drawn in. Papa goes back into the bedroom and Pal, wanting to escape, dresses up in the girl's dress and hat and starts through the door. His hat catches on the curtain and sticks there and he passes on hatless. Papa sees his short hair and seizes him by the crop and throws him to the floor. As they tussle and struggle they slip under the big rug covering the floor, and under it they continue the fight. Slim jumps from the bed and dives under too and together they roll over and over. By and by Slim sticks out a head, but the Landlord's head is out too, hurriedly Slim draws it in. By and by, one at a time, Slim and Pal creep out from under the rug and on out the door. The Landlord follows after, and after comes the kitten whose loss has caused all the trouble. And just then Slim wakes up in his accustomed seat in the hall, dressed in his hall boy's suit, and lo and behold it was all a dream.
