I had bought this DVD near Halloween while standing in line at a general store just to satisfy both of my kid's interests in the cover. The animation is a bit weak (even though the background art is quite "Burtonish"). Both stories are quite simple and uncomfortably slow at times. The voice-overs sometimes do not match up to character and punch-lines aren't always timed, but to a kid who could care less, it wouldn't matter anyway. It still seems awkwardly entertaining in the spirit of Halloween.
Both of my kids insist on watching these short cartoons at least once a week.... anytime of the year. The neighbor's kids always ask to borrow it. Our Friend's children ask to watch it with every sleep over. Even I have grown fond of it and am now online looking for other episodes for the kids.
To sum up, I am not sure WHAT makes this cartoon stand up in a DVD collection with SpongeBob, Scooby and the quick whitted others. It just does!
I wouldn't be too critical of a $3 independent (obviously) animation DVD that just might do what the makers set to do. Entertain your kids for just a few minutes instead of 2 hours in front of the tube!
