During it's original run, the series received a lot of promotion from the network. The title character also appeared in quite a lot of YTV's promotional material for big events, including hosting movie marathons and holiday specials, including one for Canada Day where he met the title character from Yvon of the Yukon, another YTV show created by Ian James Corlett.
Several Canadian celebrities have guest starred on the show such as: Canadian rock band Gob in "Band 'o' Bruthaz"; hockey player Trevor Linden from the Vancouver Canucks in "Hockey Night in Burnaby"; and environmental activist David Suzuki in the series finale "An Ianconvenient Truth".
Ian James Corlett has stated that his favorite episode of the series is "Ken Kelley and the Keyboard Factory", while Richard Ian Cox, Ian's voice actor, has stated that his favorite episode is "O Brother, Where Art Thou?".
