I have to say, I was really blown away by this film. The technical expertise is obvious from the opening shot onward, but it's the perfect handling of the narrative that leaves the strongest impression. With a sure hand, Gilman guides the film from weightless comedy to social commentary as crisp and welcome as Sprite at a barbecue. My only regret, other than a slight slackness in the second act (which of course passes quickly in a film of this length), was not seeing more of Jennie Tar. I just love that innocent smile--concealing, as it does, some less than innocent intentions. Great film--I hope it gets on iTunes soon!
