When OSS 117 and Larmina are talking about the arms trade on the pier at 9pm, OSS 117 wonders what time it is, looks at his watch and says it is 10 to 7 although his watch show 5 past 8.

In Plantieux's office, Hubert finishes his glass of bourbon, downing the last of it in one gulp. Yet a moment later, without the glass having been refilled, he again finishes his glass of bourbon in the same manner.

Despite being set in 1955, many of the cars are from the 1960s.

The movie is set in 1955. The song "Guaglione" (aka "Bambino"), of which Hubert sings an Arabic version, was written and recorded for the first time in 1956.

After the mambo sequence, the band begins playing a twist-style piece of music and Hubert begins dancing the twist. However, the film is set in 1955, at least five years before the twist was popularized.

OSS 117 flies to Cairo in 1955 with a Caravelle, which entered service only in 1959.

When OSS 117 learns to count in Arabic, Larmina coaches him: "Wahed, Jouj...". She should be counting in Egyptian Arabic, but instead she uses Moroccan Arabic. An Egyptian would not use (or understand) "Jouj" for two. The word is "Itnayn".
