Premiered along with Release Me (2005) at the 2005 Palm Beach International Film Festival, as part of a High Definition presentation.
Shot on 26 December 2004 as an experimental HDV demo project using the Sony HDR-FX1 and CF24.
Originally, a quirky short romantic comedy called The Aquarists was scheduled to be shot. At 5 am that morning, as the wind picked up and Heath McKnight was reminded of the 2004 hurricanes, he decided to write and direct a prequel to the upcoming 9:04 AM (it takes place 6 months before the movie). While Jon Fordham did camera tests with the new FX1 and the girls rehearsed the other movie, Heath wrote the new script (originally called Tres Hermanas) and they shot it in Heath's master bedroom.
Screened along side Release Me (2005) at the Moving Image Event, hosted by the Palm Beach County Artists' association, on 18 June 2005.
One of the reasons the film was made was to test out the then-new Sony HDR-FX1, which at the time was only the second sub-$50,000 HD camera (after the proto-HDV camera, the JVC HD10) and the first true HDV camera (after the official HDV specs were created in September 2003, after the HD10 was released). Both Director Heath McKnight and Cinematographer 'Jon Fordham' wrote about the camera at various websites in late 2004/early 2005.
