Bondage snippets: quantity rather than quality
A dozen lovely models populate this typical bondage adventure, from a director I admire but who is not above "cranking 'em out". Ten episodes in an hour spreads the goodies too thin.
It's very basic stuff: tied up babes squirming, whimpering and struggling to break free of their bonds. Sometimes they're clothed, sometimes topless better to show off their big boobs. I know exactly what separates me from the fans of this genre: I greatly enjoyed a risqué scene in a mainstream movie of the '50s or '60s growing up, in which whatever sex queen of the time (my favorites were Juli Reding, Greta Thyssen, Scilla Gabel, Mari Blanchard and Joi Lansing) would bulge in the right places and perhaps need rescuing, but it was within the context of a watchable story-line film, albeit usually a B-movie.
The A-movie equivalent, even more rewarding, was Sophia Loren rising from the sea in "Boy on a Dolphin", diaphanous top clinging to her bosom - I even had the popular one-sheet size poster of that classic shot on my wall. Fetish fans want to see this imagery out of context (like my poster), which I find just as boring as those awful compilation films (Chuck Workman is the creepy king of this anti-art form) which string together the "great moments" for retards. Context is essential.
And so Woods' dispensing with a story shoots himself in the foot. His opening and closing scene consists of Kristine Imboch in business suit and heels, hobbling around a backyard and later on the sidewalk tied up and gagged, in need of assistance. Just a modicum of back-story, any back-story, would have made her predicament interesting, even if only temporarily. The same goes for the others, hog-tied and helpless.
The takeaway of all this redundant nonsense might be a philosophical reaction like that of the Myth of Sysiphus, condemned to forever arduously roll that rock up the steep hill, only to watch it tumble back down immediately, cuing him to start rolling all over again. None of this dirty dozen ever escapes her bonds and finds freedom. Their lot is almost as futile as my finding a quality film/video amongst the thousands of bondage/fetish titles currently available.
