Beautiful and haunting

I saw this film at a special screening and I have to say that I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I surprised.

What I got was an atmospheric murder mystery that turns the genre on its head. Dark and moody. It reminds me of movies from the 70's, edgy and raw with emotions. You get to see a side of Brooklyn that you rarely see. It just feels authentic. The acting is really powerful. The Nephew and the Woman were solid. I've never seen these guys anywhere before but I am sure that I will see them again. I especially like the interrogation scenes and all its shadows. It's really one of those films that stays with you long after you've left the theater.

Excellent Film!

What a surprising cool little mystery! Saw it in NY and I thought it was one of the best and most beautiful takes on the city (Brooklyn) I've seen. Views of the city that were fresh and different than ones I've seen, which is hard to pull off. It was one of those stories where you don't know who to believe after the crime, and you must try and figure out who is telling the truth. Surprising story with some excellent acting especially from an English (or possibly Irish) actor, don't know his name. It shows what you can do on a small budget with just a little bit of imagination, some style, a cool score and some good actors. Check it out.
