The Rocket (2005)

Goofs

The Rocket

Edit

Continuity

When the secretary is typing, the sound of the keys begins later than her fingers motion to type.

Factual errors

Outside the Forum, a schedule of Canadiens' games lists Kansas City (they didn't enter the NHL until later, in the 70s).

Revealing mistakes

The RCAF officer who rejects Maurice Richard's enlistment is wearing an only slightly modified modern Canadian air force uniform. At that time, the RCAF uniform was virtually identical to that of the RAF, which features light- and dark-blue bands on the cuffs as officer insignia. This officer's uniform very clearly had gold insignia on the cuffs, in keeping with what the modern air force has worn since the mid-1980s.
It is evident that the same arena was used as a stand-in for all the of NHL venues in the film, as the interiors of the Montreal Forum, the old Madison Square Garden, and Boston Garden are nearly identical. In reality, these arenas differed significantly from one another.

Anachronisms

In the shaving scene which takes place in the mid-1950's Dupuis (as Richard) is using a safety razor that hadn't yet been invented - it wouldn't be invented and marketed until about 1963. The razor has a numbered dial, which the film shows in close-up, round its handle; this dial changed the spacing between the razor blade and the head of the shaver; safety razors in the 50's, and earlier, did not have this space-setting dial feature.

Crew or equipment visible

During the scene where N.Y. Rangers Bob Dill (Sean Avery), challenges the Rocket to a fight, a skater wearing headphones and a modern-looking black/orange/white hockey jersey labeled "Big Dog", briefly appears in the foreground of a shot where Dill makes his approach.
