Although the film is only a couple of minutes, chances are you will be thinking about it later, like me, when you are going to bed that night. The film resonates that unsettling feeling of being alone in the darkness. Carousel's animated look, consisting mostly of pinks and purples, matched with a soundtrack that is tense and guttural gives the short film an unnerving quality that feels both primal and unnatural. Too bad it is not longer (the film is only two minutes), it would be interesting to see if that surreal and disorientating feeling could be sustained over a longer period of time. Anyone who owned a carousel or porcelain doll growing up will immediately identify with this film and how creepy those toys are at night.
