This was the very first TV series fully produced by Catalan TV station TV3, who had started airing in 1983. To ensure good ratings, they decided to adapt de Pedrolo's popular Catalan novel.

Àgueda Font was an acting student whom Xesc Barceló and Ricard Reguant met by chance in the street and thought she looked the lead part of Alba. She auditioned for the role and was immediately cast, with Manuel de Pedrolo's blessing.
