Shortly after a coin toss decided which team would get to pick the first preliminary fight, coach Conor McGregor gathers the European fighters and delivers a prepared speech outlining what his team can expect this season. That night, the winning European and American fighters move into the TUF house. After scoping out their new digs and picking their rooms, a celebratory barbecue ensues. Eager to turn their focus to the competition, the fighters waste no time in starting to size up the competition and new friendships are forged.

Urijah confronts Conor about not attending morning practices with Team McGregor and a crowd gathers as the coaches get in a heated conversation about differences in coaching styles. Fighters react to last week's fight and celebrate their win in unique fashion.

One of the top competitors of Team McGregor prepares for the fifth preliminary fight against an unorthodox fighter from Team Faber, confident that he has the weapons to give Conor another victory. UFC bantamweight champion, T.J Dillashaw joins his friend and teammate, Urijah in training and shares his skills with his team. TJ knows that Conor has been calling him a traitor for training with another coach besides Uriah after winning the world championship. He expects to hear more when he's face to face with Conor. After the weigh in, as both teams and coaches wait to do a photo shoot, Conor starts to poke at Urijah again but this time he is relentless, accusing T.J of being a snake as well as his whole team and making demeaning comments and completely belittling Urijah. One of Faber's assistant coaches explodes in Urijah's defense and the teams start shoving each other. Then a fighter from Team McGregor threatens Urijah's coaches. When T.J shows up Conor confronts him in front of everyone. After the photo shoot is over, T.J calls Conor out and reminds him he is a world champ with a real belt. Later, both teams digest what just happened and take sides. Once it's all said and done, it's time for the fifth preliminary fight of the season, as both fighters confidently step into the octagon.

Due to a twist in the competition, one fighter shows heavy emotion after being eliminated from the competition. Even though he won his fight, his shot at getting into the UFC will have to be put on hold. After a sudden turn of events that brings another fighter back into the competition, Dana White has a big surprise for the fighters that will help them relax before the quarterfinals begin.

Sixteen European fighters and sixteen American fighters arrive in Las Vegas to fight for a chance at fulfilling their dreams of entering the UFC. Representing countries such as Russia, Sweden, France, and England, the Europeans face off against each other in the most important bouts of their lives. The fighters from all across America are paired as well, and the winners of all matches will move on to form Team McGregor and Team Faber and compete for a six-figure contract with the UFC and a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Coaching the US team is former WEC champion and owner of Team Alpha Male, Urijah Faber, and coaching the European team is current interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor. Exploding onto the American fight scene after conquering Ireland, Conor won his title in a fight against Urijah's teammate, Chad Mendes, creating a tense rivalry between himself and Urijah. As they watch the elimination fights along side Dana White, the two coaches banter with one another while studying the moves of their future understudies. Once the sixteen contenders have been determined, Dana flips a coin to determine who will pick the first American and European to fight each other in the first preliminary matchup. It's the beginning of a wild ride to see who are the better fighters- Americans or Europeans. The fighters will enter the next step of this mentally and physically challenging experience by moving into a house together while they all train in hopes of becoming the next ultimate fighter.
