The life of the German colony in Guatemala
A very good film about the living conditions and relationships of the German colony in Guatemala. The wealthy German families are just a metaphor to all the racial and social hate that, ever since, reigns over this land. Also a very sensitive and smart approach to the causes of civil war and genocide that provoked the diaspora of Guatemalans -over a half million people left the country as a consequence of war- in the U.S. and other countries. This film also shows very clearly how the Indians in Guatemala are abused since their childhood; and how the "ladinos" or "mestizos" try to adopt the values of the white people, trying to get for themselves, at least illusionary a "cleanest" blood. A prove that Nazism was just a manifestation of a deeper issue on the social behavior of the humans in every culture.
